Qehilloth Sharoth  is a community-based group in the New York City area that celebrates Judaic musical traditions from around the world. It was launched in Jerusalem and in January 2012 it was introduced to lower Manhattan's energetic congregation Magen David of Union Square

The Program
One person intimately familiar with a particular tradition teaches a few representative hymns, and teaches them holistically.  Participants are given some historical background about the melody.  A translation and an overview of each hymn is made available. The hymn is taught slowly and deliberately, line-by-line, over the course of an extraordinarily engaging two-and-a-half hour program. A short break featuring light refreshments, snacks, and a chance to socialize with other people typically happens after sixty minutes.
